I'm gonna' be honest. Tonight I'm sitting here with some coaching notes and an outline scattered on the couch beside me. My daughter's asleep, my husband's reading and my cat's snuggled on a pile of clean laundry across the room.
You'd think I'd be able to write up a few thoughts for you on how to finish your novel.
Truth is, I lost a dear aunt this week. And I need to focus on my family for the next few days.
I'll be back again later this week. In the meantime, thought you might like to pop over to Write to Done and check out my guest post from last summer, "First Draft Secrets: Five Simple Steps."
When my head clears, I think I'll be re-reading it myself. :-)

Hi Stephanie,
Wow - an aunt to thirty-eight? You've gotta' be a busy woman!
Thank you for stopping by and leaving a comment. I'm glad my experience helped you out, and appreciate your awesome feedback about my blog.
Look forward to seeing you around the blogosphere.
warmly,
Marla

Hi Marla-
I realize this was posted back in January but two things-wait three.
First, thank you for being so honest. I struggle some days to get my own blog posts written. Often it is b/c something significant is distracting me. I appreciated your honesty. It felt like I got my permission slip signed to take the break when I need it.
Secondly, this might have been the single most helpful writer's advice post I've come across.
Third, I am an aunt to thirty eight nieces and nephews and write as the grief and loss expert on SavvyAuntie.com. While I don't like to even think about leaving them, I was touched that you took the time to mourn her.
All the best Marla.
Stephanie
